So, check out the latest few posts on thewhiteboard (I just typoed that as "thewhineboard," hellllloooo Freudian fingers). I don't know how to make a link to that LJ community automatically, sorry dudes.|
Anyway, there have been a few "is this prof any good???" and "MAKE YOUR PROFESSORS ACCOUNTABLE" posts which have annoyed me. And I responded to them, outing myself as a Miami faculty member.
Do you guys think that my posting to that community was a mistake? Is it better that I just lurk, reading these publically-accessible LiveJournal communities, or is it inappropriate for me to speak up? I find it extremely tiresome to see all of this skulking around, backhanded "let's get so-and-so FIRED" or "avoid so-and-so's classes because he makes you THINK!"
The way I look at it, if they didn't want the community to include Miami faculty as well as students, they should have made it a private community and screened people. And, if now that I've made it clear that I'm not a student they want me off of it, they should just kick me off. Perhaps I'm over-analyzing, I don't know.
P.S. I checked out ratemyprofessors.com and, of the Western faculty, only saw entries for Keller and Perlin.
